Are You Doing Everything You Can to Give Your Mastiff a Fulfilling Life?

English Mastiff

“What the Lion is to the Cat,
the Mastiff is to the Dog,
the noblest of the family;
he stands alone,
and all others sink before him.
His courage does not exceed
his temper and generosity,
and in attachment he equals
the kindest of his race.”

Cynographia Britannica – 1800

Welcome to Mastiff Answers, a website devoted to Mastiff dog information, care, health and training.  Mastiff’s are wonderful family companions.  They are loyal, lovable, and naturally protective.  Like any other dog, Mastiffs differ from breed to breed.  During your visit, you will get a greater understanding of what Mastiff’s are all about, common Mastiff behaviors, and how to train your dog to follow rules and even do some tricks.

Full-grown male Mastiffs weighing from 170 to 220 pounds and at least 30 inches tall at the shoulder, mastiffs are the largest dogs around. Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds may be taller, but they are lightweights compared with the Mastiff.

Mastiffs are also called English mastiffs or Old English Mastiffs. They may be large, but they are truly gentle giants. If they are well socialized as puppies, they grow up to be gentle, patient, and affectionate dogs that are good with children, good with other dogs, and intensely loyal to their families. Consequently, they make wonderful pets, companions, and watchdogs.

If you own a Mastiff or are considering getting one, I will try to answer your questions about how to choose and raise your puppy and how to care for your dog. Read on to learn more about this wonderful dog breed!
